New Life Sunday School Classes 9:30 a.m. every Sunday Nursery—provided for infants through age 2. An adult staffs the nursery, which provides cribs for naps, toys and books for play, and Christian children’s music and a short story with a take-home page for parents to use with the child. Pre-School Class—Ages 3 (potty-trained preferred) until the child completes Kindergarten. Using curriculum titled Rock Solid, the class includes lessons, crafts, snacks, and music. In fall of 2011 the children will learn about Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, and Jesus. This class is taught by an adult. Early Elementary Class—Bible in Life is the curriculum for children in grades 1, 2, 3 and 4. During the fall of 2011 the class will focus on choices--Making Godly Choices, God's Chosen Kings, and Wise to Advise. The class includes lessons and crafts and is taught by an adult who has experience teaching several ages of children. Upper Elementary Class—Children in grades 5, 6, 7, and 8. An adult leads the students in discussing youth issues from a Biblical perspective. The class also seeks to do ministry as part of their class. It may be supporting a ministry or asking themselves how to participate in the church. It is not only a learning environment, but also an atmosphere of being active in our faith. Senior High—Students in grades 9 through 12. This class is using a book titled Surviving High School. Led by an adult, the class members discuss situations that high schoolers face and how to deal with them. They are also planning to redecorate their classroom to make it kind of like a coffee shop. Adult Classes—From Young Adults through all ages, we have a class for you to explore your faith. Three classes are available for adults. Lamplighters class uses Adult Bible Studies, an official curriculum of the United Methodist Church. Every lesson begins with a Bible scripture followed by commentary and questions which promote discussion. Advance reading of the lesson is recommended as most Sunday School hour is spent in discussion of the ideas presented. The fall 2011 scriptures are from Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, and Matthew. Potter's Clay class is studying the book of Jeremiah. Each Sunday the class reads a section together and discusses it with commentary from their own Bibles and from prepared discussion notes. For several months they have been slowly working their way through the Old Testament books. Seekers class is studying Genesis, reading scripture and using a study book for discussion questions.
